Church is not the building but …

Mountain Christian has two worship venues on our campus, and I most often participate in the services in Cook Auditorium – the more “traditional” looking of the two.  The part of me that is anti-trendy is intrigued by the article “Unchurched Prefer Cathedrals Over Contemporary Church Buildings.”

Ed Stetzer is quoted prominently in the article (author of one of the church growth texts I bought but haven’t yet read for an Emmanuel School or Religion class I audited in January), and no matter what physical space you prefer for worship, you probably agree with his point “Buildings don’t reach people, people do.”

Very interesting article. I often hear that the first thing people notice about Mountain is the beautiful old “cathedral” on the hill. We enjoy some benefits of the ancient and the modern in reaching people.
